Acute Medical Care Device Case Study

Integrated Blood Cell Counting Instrument

Challenge

Design a fast, fully integrated, smearing, staining and blood cell counting platform for the clinical environment.

Solution

In a relatively small footprint, we developed a blood analysis solution that applies a monolayer of blood cells on a glass slide, stains the slide, analyzes the cellular morphology and provides a CBC, 5-part differential, and reticulocyte count. The resulting instrument was internally transferred to KMC’s manufacturing team for ultimate delivery to the market at commercial volumes.
